Common questions about solar storms today
Can a solar storm cause headaches today?
Some observational studies report timing associations between geomagnetic activity and symptoms. They cannot establish a definite cause for one person.
Is there a solar storm right now?
The live Kp value at the top of this page answers it directly: Kp below 3 is quiet, 3–4 elevated, and from Kp 5 NOAA calls it a geomagnetic storm. The data refreshes on every visit.
Can people feel solar storms?
No proven mechanism exists. Some people report headaches, restless sleep or fatigue during geomagnetically disturbed periods — studies show timing associations, not causation. This page shows data, not diagnoses.
Why can the Sun be active while Earth is quiet?
A flare's light arrives quickly, while an Earth-directed CME can take many hours or several days. Not every flare sends a CME toward Earth.
